There are several things this product says it does namely Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs! Other claims on the packaging “Makes up to 14 eggs at one time” and “The fast and easy way to make healthy and delicious high-protein eggs“.
We put The Perfect Egg Maker’s claims to test, and see if this product should find it’s way as a staple in our kitchen and a place on our website as a recommendation as to the best way to boil eggs.
Some of the things we looked for :
- Does The Perfect Egg Maker make perfect hard boiled eggs?
- Is The Perfect Egg Maker fast?
- Is making eggs this way with The Perfect Egg Maker easy?
- Is The Perfect Egg Maker easy to use?
- How do the eggs peel after cooking?
- Will the eggs come out like the images on the packaging?
- Will The Perfect Egg Maker make 14 eggs?
It is worth noting here that the Perfect Egg Maker actually steams the eggs to cook them, not boil the eggs. So this is really the Perfect Hard Steamed Egg, not Boiled Egg Maker.
The Copper Chef Perfect Egg Maker is for home use only and comes with many parts:
- A base with a heat surface or hot plate
- 2 plastic egg trays – this holds the eggs in place
- Clear plastic extension ring
- Clear plastic dome lid
- Plastic poaching tray

- Plastic measuring cup – the base comes off and has an egg pricker
We tested the Perfect Egg Maker twice. The first time, the power just came on the minute we plugged the unit on and there was no way to turn it off until the internal timer turned the unit off. However, the cooking result was the same.
Also, although the Perfect Egg Maker does turn off after a period of time, it is not the time set in the instructions. So using another timer was the key to Perfect Hard Boiled Eggs.
Here are the instructions we followed on how to make hard boiled eggs quick and easy:
Step 1. Add water to the heating element using the measuring cup. The amount of water is on the measuring cup.
Step 2. Place the eggs in the egg holder and place the egg holder onto the Perfect Egg Maker hot plate
Step 3. Pierce the egg bottoms with the pin located. The bottom is the large end of the egg. For this test, we used 5 eggs and at the bottom of the measuring cup is a smaller pin to pierce the eggs.
Step 4. Place up to seven eggs in the tray with the holes facing
up to prevent the egg contents from leaking.
Step 4. Place the cover over the unit. Plug in the unit and press the power button.
Step 5. Set the external timer for 18 minutes for 5 eggs.
Step 6. The Unit will shut off but don’t open the cover until the timer goes off.
Step 7. Prepare an ice bath (cold water and ice). The instructions say to blanch the eggs in ice water then use a running tap to peel the eggs. Peeling the eggs in the ice bath after 5 minutes usually allows the egg to peel easier.
The time for hard eggs was pretty much the same no matter how many eggs you used. For 1 to 14 eggs, the time is set to 18 to 23 minutes.
To answer the questions we started with at the beginning of this article and the results:
5 eggs for 18 minutes, hard boiled.
Does The Perfect Egg Maker make perfect hard boiled eggs?
The egg was cooked, but not perfect, in our opinion. Also. The Perfect Egg Maker steams not boils eggs. The unit heats up the water which means the eggs cook by steam not immersed in water. So it is not a boiled but a steamed egg.
Is it fast?
Not necessarily. In our other tests of steaming or boiling eggs, see below for links to other videos, the time is the same or shorter.
Is it easy?
It was not too difficult, however, piercing eggs is something most people don’t usually do, some people may find this difficult.
Is the egg maker easy to use?
Once you followed the instructions it was simple enough.
How do the eggs peel?
No. they did not, it was a real struggle to peel the eggs, and one of the eggs actually split in half.
Will the eggs come out like the images on the packaging?
In the experiment we did, twice, no they did not.
Will it make 14 eggs?
Yes the Perfect Egg Maker is built for 14 eggs, but use an external timer to ensure the eggs cook properly, but just using the Perfect Egg Makers auto shut off, the egg won’t cook thoroughly.
Other Observations
The egg was cooked, however, the shell was not easy to remove. This was very surprising as when we steam eggs the shells peeled off perfectly and easily.
The base cook plate that the water was poured into, was scorched after cooking and had to be scrubbed to remove the burnt water and egg residue.
What is the best use for the Perfect Egg Maker?
It would be ideal if you wanted an appliance this size on your kitchen countertop to make eggs in the morning, for breakfast, any other recipe or the daily snack. You would put the water in, pierce the eggs, set the timer and turn it on.
The Perfect Egg Maker could be a good gadget for a large group or large family. It is portable and you don’t need a stove, and for this use, it is perfect, ideal for a clubhouse, or anywhere you can plug into 110v.
