Cooking and testing
Now on to cooking and testing the Aroma Rice Cooker 2 – 6 cup.
Following the instructions:
Step 1
Place the bowl inside of the Aroma Rice Cooker

Step 2
Using the measuring cup place enough water to reach the first fill line.

Step 3
Add eggs, for this test, we only used two eggs, but you could put as many eggs as would fit in this cooker in a single layer.

Cover with the Aroma Rice Cooker’s lid.

Step 4
Turn the Aroma Rice Cooker on.

Bring to a rolling boil. It took 13 minutes for the water to boil.
Step 5
Time the eggs to cook for 12 minutes in the boiling water. Note: there is no timer on the Aroma Rice Cooker.

Because the water is rolling, the eggs do move around, unlike steaming eggs.
Step 6
Prepare an ice bath. An ice bath is made up of icy cold water and ice cubes.

Step 7
When the 12 minutes are up, turn off the Aroma Rice Cooker, and remove the boiled eggs and place them into the ice bath for 5 minutes.

Step 8
After 5 minutes in the ice bath, break the egg shell around the middle of the egg and the large top end of the boiled egg. This helps to peel the boiled egg easily.

Step 9
Start to peel the boiled egg, but do it in the ice bath. The water will seep into the shell as you peel it and will assist in an easy-peel.
The eggs in this ice bath, however, were a real struggle to peel. The cold water is meant to shrink the egg white from the shell, however, this did not occur with these eggs. The reason for this is the way the eggs are cooked.

If you want a perfectly cooked hard boiled egg, we have found the best way is to steam the egg. Visit our page on Steaming Eggs Perfectly to learn how to make them.
Results
The result is that the boiled eggs did cook well and there is no grey ring. But they did not peel well.

The recipe online uses a steaming tray which is not an option for this smaller Aroma Rice Cooker model.

To answer the questions above:
- Will it make boiled eggs as shown on the packaging?
These eggs did not turn out the way the packaging shows. The yolk is not perfectly centered, and the white is not perfectly smooth on the outside. - Is it easy to use?
Yes, this is quite easy to use. All you had to do was put the water and eggs in the pot and put the timer on when the water boiled. But that is the trick, you need to see when the water boils, if you were not watching to see when the water boiled, you may overcook the eggs and end up with a grey ring around the yolk. - Is it the best way to make boiled eggs over other methods?
In our opinion and based on our other tests, no. Steaming eggs really produces the most perfect hard boiled egg. - Is it quick to use?
With a 4 minute prep time, 13 minute time to boil and 12 minute cooking time, it is not the fastest way to boil eggs, but in all relativity, for a set and forget cook time, it is reasonably quick to use. - What is this product best used for?
In our opinion, if you did not have any other way to boil eggs, this would do the trick. But it is a rice cooker when all is said and done. We did not test its ability to cook rice.
